Hyderabad: Dharmapuri Arvind KTR remarks made headlines at a Nizamabad press conference on Thursday, where the BJP MP mocked BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao over his beard. Arvind said growing a beard would not make KTR Chief Minister. He also predicted a BJP victory in the 2028 Telangana Assembly elections and ruled out alliances with other parties.
Arvind sarcastically suggested that someone might have advised KTR to grow a beard to improve his chances of becoming Chief Minister. He cited Congress leader N. Uttam Kumar Reddy as another example. Arvind argued that although Uttam Kumar Reddy had grown a beard, the Congress had not become stronger.
The BJP MP also referred to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s decision to construct a new Secretariat. Arvind claimed KCR had been advised that visiting the old Secretariat would lead to electoral defeat. However, he said the new building did not help KCR win the subsequent election.
Dharmapuri Arvind KTR remarks accompany 2028 BJP poll claim
Beyond his remarks about KTR, Arvind dismissed claims that the BJP was inactive in Telangana. He said the party was working behind the scenes and expressed confidence that it would win the 2028 Assembly elections without an alliance.
Arvind also criticised the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). He alleged that leaders of the two parties were protecting each other and claimed that discussions about a possible alliance were underway.
He further alleged that the Congress high command was unhappy with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. According to Arvind, the party leadership was considering an understanding with the BRS that could result in Reddy’s removal from office. These claims were made by Arvind during the press conference.
The MP accused the BRS of corruption in the Kaleshwaram project. He questioned why voters would support the party again despite allegations of large-scale financial irregularities during its rule. He also accused the BRS of using paid social media campaigns to promote its image.
Arvind said the BJP would step up its activity across newspapers, television channels and social media. He added that the BRS would have to answer questions raised by his party. He predicted that the BRS would disappear from the political scene and claimed that the Congress would also decline.
