KTR says Rahul Gandhi lacks courage to visit Telangana

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He described the Congress leader as one of the “biggest promise-makers” in Indian politics.

KTR made the remarks at an event where Jibran Sharif, a prominent leader from the Khairatabad constituency, joined the BRS. The joining took place at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. Rama Rao formally welcomed Sharif into the party by draping a party scarf around his shoulders.

Addressing the gathering, KTR targeted the Congress leadership over its electoral commitments in Telangana. According to him, the party promised six major guarantees within 100 days. In addition, it made 13 declarations and 420 specific promises, he said. However, the state government has shown no progress even after 1,000 days in office, Rama Rao alleged.

KTR targets Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy

“Rahul Gandhi travels across the country speaking about ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ but lacks the courage to visit Telangana,” KTR said. He also alleged that the Congress leadership remains silent on administrative irregularities. Further, he alleged that under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana has become an “ATM” for the central Congress leadership.

KTR argued that the Congress lacks the political leverage to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi or curb communal politics nationally. Meanwhile, he reiterated that the BRS would remain a focused regional force. He said the party would be dedicated to safeguarding Telangana’s state interests.
