CM Revanth Reddy launches Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, announces major initiatives for youth employment

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, speaking at the launch of the “Rajiv Yuva Vikasam” program, announced several key initiatives aimed at youth employment, social welfare, and transparent governance.

The state government has allocated ₹6,000 crore to provide employment opportunities for five lakh unemployed youth. CM Reddy expressed satisfaction in launching such an important initiative at the Legislative Assembly premises.

Major Welfare and Employment Announcements
CM Reddy highlighted that within 48 hours of assuming office, his government implemented free bus travel for women in RTC buses and increased the Aarogyasri health insurance coverage to ₹10 lakh. Over the past 15 months, the government has filled more than 57,000 government job vacancies.

He also noted that 50 lakh families are now benefiting from 200 units of free electricity, while 43 lakh families are availing the ₹500 gas cylinder scheme. The government is working to provide 1.3 crore high-quality sarees to women in self-help groups.

To support education, the government is providing free electricity to 29,500 government schools. Additionally, under the “Amma Aadarsha Pathashala” initiative, the management of certain schools has been entrusted to women.

BC and SC Reservations Based on Caste Census
CM Reddy reiterated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement that a caste census is like an X-ray for society. Based on the recent caste census findings, the government has decided to approve the BC reservation bill, which has revealed that BCs constitute 56.36% of the state’s population. Consequently, the government is moving to grant them 42% reservations.

Additionally, a bill for the sub-categorization of SCs has been introduced in the Assembly, aiming to ensure justice for all SC communities.

Strengthening Governance and Revenue Generation
CM Reddy emphasized that despite a decline in government revenue and an increase in debt, his administration remains committed to efficient governance. He assured that the government is not relying on false promises but is instead reducing unnecessary expenditures and implementing structured policies.

Efforts are being made to streamline sand and other revenue-generating sectors, leading to a significant increase in state income. Sand revenue, which previously stood at ₹1.5 crore, has now increased to ₹3.5 crore. Telangana is leading the country in tax collection, and the state’s unemployment rate has improved from 8.8% to 6.6%.

According to official figures from the central government, Telangana has also achieved a 1.3% rate in essential commodities inflation, the lowest in the country.

Under the “Rajiv Yuva Vikasam” initiative, financial assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹4 lakh will be provided, with the application process already underway. The list of beneficiaries will be announced on June 2, and each constituency is expected to generate employment for 4,000 to 5,000 youth. CM Reddy stressed that the scheme should benefit genuinely unemployed individuals.

He also assured that government job recruitment and teacher transfers have been conducted transparently, free from any allegations. The government remains committed to implementing welfare schemes transparently, ensuring better governance for the people.

Looking ahead, CM Reddy reiterated his vision of transforming Telangana into a one-trillion-dollar economy. He emphasized that this is not just a political agenda but a plan designed for the welfare of the people.

Concluding his speech, CM Reddy expressed gratitude to the opposition MLAs who attended the event.
