Raja Narasimha says additional nursing appointments to be completed in two days

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said on Wednesday that the process of filling an additional 2,322 nursing positions would be completed within the next two days, as the state government stepped up recruitment in public hospitals.

He made the announcement while attending Safe Motherhood Day celebrations at the Midwifery Training Institute in Boyaguda. The programme was held under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika initiative.

The Minister said the government was giving priority to recruiting nursing professionals in hospitals. He said the healthcare system had been strengthened over the past two years by filling more than 10,000 vacancies. Most of those posts, he added, were nursing roles.

He also said the government was setting up new nursing colleges to expand opportunities for students. In addition, it was facilitating training in English, German and Japanese for nursing students to support international career prospects.

Additional nursing appointments linked to wider reforms

Raja Narasimha also said the government was strengthening midwifery services in the state to encourage natural births. As part of that effort, 370 nurses had been given midwifery training, he said.

He said midwifery training institutes would be established in government nursing colleges. He added that the government would also work to reduce the number of Cesarean deliveries.

The Minister said these steps, along with the additional nursing appointments, formed part of the government’s broader effort to reinforce public healthcare services across the state.
