Hyderabad: BJP Medak MP Raghunandan Rao on Sunday criticised the Congress and BRS over their conduct in the Telangana Assembly. Speaking to the media at the BJP office in Hyderabad, he accused both parties of obstructing discussions on public issues.
Raghunandan Rao compared the conduct of the two parties to the Telugu saying, “You pretend to hit, and I will pretend to cry,” alleging that their political theatrics were similar. He also accused both parties of showing little concern for Telangana’s development.
The BJP MP questioned why ruling party MLAs needed to travel in bulletproof buses to visit BRS leaders’ farmhouses. He described the practice as an alleged misuse of power and questioned the need for such arrangements.
Raghunandan Rao also questioned the government’s decision to re-examine land records when the State already has the relevant records. He referred to Danam Nagender’s political career and said he expected the BJP to win the Khairatabad Assembly constituency in a by-election.
He described the Congress and BRS as “two sides of the same coin” and criticised the governments led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over their approach to the Nizam’s legacy.
Raghunandan Rao questions Nizam remarks
Raghunandan Rao played videos that he said showed KCR and Revanth Reddy praising the Nizam in the Assembly. He criticised KCR for what he described as excessive praise for the former ruler and questioned the historical treatment of Adivasi communities.
He also accused KCR and Revanth Reddy of supporting the MIM and criticised their visits to the Old City and remarks about the Majlis party. Raghunandan Rao referred to the composition of the Nizam’s administration and questioned the treatment of women during the Bathukamma festival under Nizam rule.
He also raised the Bairanpally incident while questioning the portrayal of the Nizam as a great ruler. Raghunandan Rao criticised both leaders for praising the Nizam in the Legislative Assembly.
Recent reporting confirms that Raghunandan Rao made similar remarks on September 20, describing KCR and Revanth Reddy as “new Nizams” while questioning their comments on the Nizam’s rule.
