Ponguleti warns officials over delays in resolving farmers’ grievances

Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing and I&PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday warned officials of disciplinary action over delays in resolving farmers’ grievances and other public complaints.

He directed revenue personnel to address pending grievances promptly and improve administrative performance. Moreover, he expressed dissatisfaction with the department’s functioning despite repeated instructions to improve service delivery.

The minister issued the warning during a review meeting of the Revenue, Registration and Housing departments at the Sangareddy Collectorate. The meeting covered the erstwhile Medak district.

Ponguleti said the department had yet to achieve the expected administrative standards. He also stressed that officials must respond promptly to farmers facing revenue-related problems.

Ponguleti demands accountability in resolving farmers’ grievances

The minister questioned several tahsildars and field surveyors about their daily work and progress under the government’s land resurvey programme. He sought details about survey methods, village allocations, daily operational targets and project completion schedules.

Additionally, Ponguleti instructed officials to conduct regular field inspections instead of relying solely on administrative reviews. He directed personnel at every level, from tahsildars to district collectors, to personally monitor survey operations. They must also address farmers’ concerns directly during field visits.

The minister stressed that resolving farmers’ grievances required timely intervention and continuous supervision by senior revenue officials. He warned that personnel who failed to discharge their responsibilities or delayed grievance redressal would face strict disciplinary action.

Telangana targets completion of land resurvey within 18 months

Reviewing the government’s comprehensive land resurvey project, Ponguleti said the initiative aimed to permanently settle longstanding land disputes. The programme also seeks to establish greater transparency in land records across Telangana.

The government has set an 18-month target to complete the resurvey of agricultural lands and abadi properties throughout the state. Under Phase I, survey operations are underway in 70 selected villages per district.

Ponguleti directed officials to closely monitor the progress of these surveys and ensure adherence to project timelines. He also called for greater coordination among field surveyors, tahsildars and senior revenue authorities to address operational difficulties.

The minister linked the land resurvey programme with the broader objective of resolving farmers’ grievances and improving the reliability of land records. Ministers Damodar Rajanarasimha and Vivek Venkataswamy attended the meeting alongside MPs Raghunandan Rao and Suresh Shetkar.

MLC Anji Reddy and MLAs Chinta Prabhakar, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Manik Rao, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and Sanjeeva Reddy also participated. The meeting included Sangareddy Collector Prateek Jain, Medak Collector Haimavathi and Siddipet Collector Pratima Singh.

Additional Collectors, Sub-Collectors, Revenue Divisional Officers, Tahsildars and officials from various departments were also present. The review covered departmental performance, progress under the land resurvey programme and measures for improving public grievance redressal.

Ponguleti reiterated that officials must prioritise resolving farmers’ grievances while ensuring regular inspections and timely completion of assigned survey work.
