Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Sunday alleged that public issues were not being adequately discussed in the Telangana Assembly. He said people would consider Assembly sessions meaningful only when their concerns and the implementation of government promises were taken up.
Bandi Sanjay said the BRS had been suspended from the Assembly and alleged that the BJP was not given an opportunity to speak. He described the proceedings as one-sided and claimed that they had largely become a formality.
He also alleged that there had been no substantive discussion on the Congress government’s ‘Six Guarantees’. According to him, the Congress was neither discussing the guarantees nor its promises relating to development.
The Union Minister also questioned visits by ruling party leaders to the farmhouses of private individuals. He asked who had authorised such visits and questioned whether the farmhouses were being treated as tourist destinations.
Bandi Sanjay referred to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s allegations in the Assembly concerning land encroachments. He said that if evidence of encroachment existed, the government should make it public and reclaim the land.
Bandi Sanjay raises 22A land restrictions
Bandi Sanjay alleged that the land issue had created an opportunity to demand money from BRS leaders. He said that if land grabbing had occurred, the government should take action and initiate criminal proceedings rather than settle the matter after payments.
He also said people were facing difficulties because of restrictions under Section 22A. Bandi Sanjay said legal action would be pursued if necessary to address the issue.
On the proposed Khairatabad Assembly constituency by-election, Bandi Sanjay alleged that the Congress lacked the confidence to face the contest. He referred to MLA Danam Nagender’s approach to the Supreme Court and said the BJP-BRS contest would be the key political battle if the by-election takes place.
