SCR records highest-ever ticket checking revenue of Rs 1.18 crore in a day

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) recorded its highest ticket checking revenue of Rs 1.18 crore in a single day on November 5, 2026, during an intensive drive across three divisions.

Railway officials detected 11,150 cases of ticketless and irregular travel and collected Rs 1.18 crore from the offenders. The drive covered Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions.

The special checking operation followed instructions from SCR Principal Chief Commercial Manager Ity Pandey. Railway authorities organised the drive in anticipation of heavy passenger traffic during the Diwali and Chhath festivals.

The collection marked the highest single-day ticket checking earnings for SCR since the zone’s bifurcation in June 2026.

SCR achieves highest ticket checking revenue across three divisions

Secunderabad Division contributed Rs 1.02 crore to the total collection of Rs 1.18 crore, accounting for the largest share. The record collection significantly exceeded SCR’s average daily ticket checking revenue of Rs 33.44 lakh. The zone usually registered around 4,373 ticketless and irregular travel cases per day.

However, the November 5 drive resulted in 11,150 cases, reflecting a substantial increase in enforcement activity. The operation also involved 117 women ticket checking personnel working alongside their male colleagues.

Railway authorities conducted the special drive to prevent ticketless and irregular travel in reserved and unreserved coaches of passenger and express trains. The initiative also sought to protect passengers travelling with valid tickets from inconvenience caused by unauthorised travellers.

Additionally, SCR aimed to raise public awareness about the requirement to carry valid tickets or appropriate travel authority. The checking drive covered trains operating across all three divisions under the zone.

SCR general manager appreciates ticket checking staff

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the Commercial Department and ticket checking personnel for their efforts in achieving the record collection. He commended their commitment and proactive measures to curb ticketless and irregular travel.

Furthermore, Srivastava stressed the importance of intensive ticket checking operations in protecting genuine passengers and maintaining orderly travel. He said such drives helped prevent irregular travel and ensured smoother journeys for passengers.

The November 5 operation established a new single-day ticket checking revenue record for South Central Railway following its June 2026 bifurcation.
