Hyderabad: Medak bus fire destroyed a private traveller bus on the national highway near Masaipet early Monday.
The incident occurred around 5 am when flames erupted suddenly in the vehicle. Police said the bus belonged to Hyderabad and had undergone repairs in Medak. It was on its return journey when the fire started.
Flames spread quickly and gutted the bus. However, no passengers were on board at the time. As a result, authorities averted a major mishap.
Medak bus fire disrupts highway traffic
Ramayampet CI Venkata Raja Goud and Chegunta SI Chaitanya Kumar Reddy rushed to the spot after receiving information. They assessed the situation and coordinated the response.
Fire personnel reached the location and controlled the flames. Meanwhile, officials continued the probe to identify the cause of the fire.
The incident disrupted traffic on the national highway for some time before police cleared the route.
