Hyderabad: Hyderabad district in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar has ordered a special inspection of Basti Dawakhanas across the city to strengthen healthcare services during the monsoon. He said the government aims to provide quality medical care and prevent seasonal diseases.
The minister announced that special officers will inspect all 169 facilities in Hyderabad district on July 10. Meanwhile, they will assess the quality of healthcare services and review their functioning.
Ponnam Prabhakar said he would personally monitor the inspection drive. Further, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala will join him in visiting selected health centres over the next two to three days.
Basti Dawakhanas to face special inspections
The minister said the initiative aims to strengthen primary healthcare services before the monsoon. Additionally, it seeks to improve preparedness against dengue, malaria, viral fevers and other seasonal diseases.
He directed officials to ensure that doctors and medical staff remain available at all facilities. Moreover, they must verify medicine stocks, laboratory services, sanitation and essential infrastructure. Officials should immediately rectify any deficiencies identified during the inspections.
Ponnam Prabhakar said these neighbourhood clinics play a vital role in delivering accessible primary healthcare. Meanwhile, he asked every facility to function efficiently and maintain public confidence throughout the monsoon.
The minister appealed to MLAs, MLCs, MPs, corporators and other public representatives to visit the health centres in their respective constituencies. Further, he urged them to review conditions on the ground and coordinate with officials to improve healthcare services.
Finally, he said the state government would continue taking all necessary measures to strengthen urban primary healthcare services and protect public health.
