Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy accused the Congress and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of refusing to accept the people’s mandate when election results went against them. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s approach reflected a strange and dangerous trend towards democratic institutions.
Kishan Reddy questioned whether the Congress recognised democracy only when results favoured the party. He also asked whether its leaders resorted to campaigns against constitutional bodies whenever voters delivered an unfavourable verdict.
According to Kishan Reddy, the Congress had repeatedly targeted the credibility of constitutional institutions whenever they did not serve its political interests. He alleged that the party had made such attacks a regular feature of its political conduct.
Kishan Reddy Congress criticism targets allegations against key institutions
Union Minister said Congress leaders questioned the integrity of constitutional bodies after receiving an adverse public mandate. He cited the Election Commission, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the judiciary and Parliament as institutions whose credibility the party allegedly sought to undermine.
He further accused Congress leaders of portraying these institutions as corrupt whenever election outcomes did not match their expectations. Kishan Reddy argued that such allegations threatened public confidence in institutions central to the country’s democratic system.
He maintained that the Congress’s criticism was aimed at weakening the trust people placed in these bodies. His remarks focused on the party’s response to unfavourable electoral outcomes and its allegations against constitutional institutions.
