Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) demanded CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. He said no authority could take away citizens’ voter rights. He also accused the CEC of undermining the Constitution.
KTR said the Constitution stood above every individual. Moreover, he questioned why authorities were trying so hard to protect one person at the expense of 140 crore Indians. He said India had seen many people rise and leave public life. Yet, the country had remained strong and continued to move forward.
Voter rights: KTR seeks Supreme Court intervention over SIR
KTR argued that no individual could rank above the country’s institutions. He warned that those who weakened India’s core principles and tried to build parallel systems had no place in its constitutional framework. Therefore, he called for stronger protection of voter rights.
The BRS leader also urged the Supreme Court to examine alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He described the alleged violations as serious. Accordingly, he asked the court to take suo motu cognisance of the matter.
KTR further demanded an independent investigation by a sitting judge. He reiterated this request on behalf of the BRS and called for judicial scrutiny of the alleged SIR irregularities.
