Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday accused the BJP-led Central government of ignoring large-scale voter fraud that Rahul Gandhi had exposed with clear evidence. He said the BJP deleted lakhs of votes opposing it in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. According to him, the move mocked democracy and weakened the people’s right to vote.
He made these remarks while addressing a massive rally in Husnabad held to protest “vote theft.” The rally started at Anabheri Chowrasta and concluded near the Ambedkar statue.
BJP accused of altering election results
According to Ponnam, the BJP manipulated election outcomes in four states by inserting fake votes and removing genuine ones. Moreover, he pointed out that despite Rahul Gandhi producing strong proof, the Centre chose silence. Instead of acting on the allegations, the Election Commission ordered an inquiry against Rahul Gandhi, he added.
He also criticised the Centre’s inaction in other cases. Referring to Hyderabad-born IPS officer Puran Kumar’s death in Chandigarh, he questioned why authorities had failed to act against those accused of harassment.
Congress to launch voter awareness campaign
Furthermore, Ponnam announced that Youth Congress teams would visit every household to check if voters’ names were still listed. He appealed to Husnabad residents to join the signature campaign against voter deletion.
In addition, he said the Congress was running programmes such as “Jai Bapu,” “Jai Bhim,” and “Jai Samvidhan” to promote democratic awareness. However, the ruling party was trying to suppress that spirit by removing votes, he alleged. A large number of party leaders and workers participated in the Husnabad rally.
