Hyderabad: A POCSO case in Hyderabad resulted in a court awarding rigorous life imprisonment to an accused in a sexual assault case involving a minor.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge T. Anitha at Nampally delivered the verdict on April 13, 2026, after trial in the case investigated by the SR Nagar Police.
The incident came to light on May 11, 2024, when a Class 9 girl complained of severe stomach pain and was admitted to a government hospital in Ameerpet. Medical tests confirmed pregnancy, and she later delivered a baby boy.
POCSO case leads to conviction after detailed investigation
During the inquiry, police identified the accused as 26-year-old Madakaru Srinivasulu. Investigators said he sexually assaulted the minor by exploiting opportunities when she visited his residence in the neighbourhood.
Following the investigation, SR Nagar Police presented evidence before the court. The prosecution established the charges at trial, resulting in a conviction.
The court sentenced the accused to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000. In case of default, the court ordered an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
Further, the court directed payment of ₹10 lakh as compensation to the victim.
