Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unveiled the Moturi Satyanarayana statue in Hyderabad on Wednesday and outlined the leader’s role in the freedom movement and promotion of Hindi as a unifying language.
He paid tribute to Moturi Satyanarayana and described him as a leader who worked for national integration through language. He said Satyanarayana treated language as a tool for unity and promoted linguistic harmony across regions.
The Governor said Satyanarayana, though a Telugu speaker, chose Hindi to connect people across India. He noted that Satyanarayana travelled to North India to promote the language. He also played a key role in establishing the Central Hindi Sansthan, which continues to advance Hindi education.
The programme took place at the Central Institute of Hindi in Bapuji Nagar, Bowenpally, Secunderabad. During the event, the Governor released a biography of Satyanarayana. He also released the quarterly publication Samnvaya Dakshini brought out by the institute.
Moturi Satyanarayana statue event marks legacy
Addressing the gathering, Shukla said the event recognised a leader who took part in the freedom struggle and promoted Hindi as part of national consciousness. He said Satyanarayana’s efforts to expand Hindi use led to his imprisonment during the freedom movement. However, he continued his work without interruption.
He further said Satyanarayana contributed in the Constituent Assembly of India. He supported the development of Indian languages and the adoption of Hindi within the official language framework.
The Governor also referred to Satyanarayana’s role in establishing the Central Hindi Teaching Board. He said the institution continues to promote Hindi. He added that the Moturi Satyanarayana statue unveiling and publication releases reflected recognition of linguistic harmony and cultural unity.
