Hyderabad: A woman allegedly killed her two children before dying by suicide in Adavi Venkatapur village of Choudapur Mandal in Vikarabad district, police said as they launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased were identified as Navaneetha alias Sunitha (27), her son Vignesh (7) and daughter Madhupriya (5). According to preliminary information gathered from local residents, the family had been facing frequent domestic disputes.
Police said Navaneetha was reportedly distressed due to ongoing family problems. She allegedly killed her two children and later died by suicide at her residence.
The deaths of the mother and two children shocked residents of the village and cast a pall of gloom over the area. Neighbours alerted authorities after learning about the incident.
Police probe Vikarabad family tragedy in Adavi Venkatapur
Investigating officers reached the village soon after receiving information and began collecting evidence from the scene. They are examining the circumstances that led to the deaths and recording statements from family members and local residents.
The woman’s husband was identified as Jambula Mallesh (32), a resident of Adavi Venkatapur village. Officials are also looking into reports that repeated family quarrels may have preceded the incident.
A separate case involving the deaths of the two children is being investigated by police. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination, and police said more information would emerge as the investigation progresses. Officials are continuing inquiries to establish the exact sequence of events in the Vikarabad family tragedy.
