Hyderabad: Mobile cancer screening was launched for Medak as Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla flagged off a dedicated van on Monday, urging residents to use the service for early detection of the disease.
The Governor inaugurated the facility at Lok Bhavan and stressed that timely diagnosis was critical in improving survival rates. He said the mobile cancer screening unit would help identify cases at an early stage and ensure prompt medical intervention.
The van was provided under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Bharat Dynamics Limited, following a request from Medak Member of Parliament M. Raghunandan Rao. The initiative aimed to bring accessible diagnostic services closer to people in the Medak Parliamentary constituency.
Officials said the vehicle was equipped with essential tools for preliminary cancer screening. These facilities were comparable to those available in hospitals, enabling on-site examinations and initial assessments.
The Governor also appreciated the efforts of the MP and commended Bharat Dynamics Limited for supporting public health through its CSR programme. He urged people across Medak to actively avail themselves of the mobile cancer screening service.
Mobile cancer screening expands access to early diagnosis
Raghunandan Rao said the initiative aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make cancer care available at the district level. He added that the introduction of the mobile cancer screening unit marked a step towards strengthening healthcare access in underserved areas.
He expressed satisfaction that the facility would benefit people who otherwise faced difficulty in reaching hospitals for early diagnosis. Officials of Bharat Dynamics Limited were present during the launch programme.
The mobile cancer screening unit is expected to improve outreach and raise awareness about early detection, which remains a key factor in reducing cancer-related mortality.
