Hyderabad: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday lashed out at BJP state chief Ramachander Rao through a scathing open letter, questioning the party’s credibility to write to the state government while, he alleged, failing spectacularly at the Centre.
Prabhakar accused the Modi-led government of systematically betraying all sections of people over 11 years, from farmers and youth to women, the poor and backward communities. He listed a string of unfulfilled promises ranging from pensions to senior farmers, enhancement of the ₹6,000 annual PM-Kisan scheme, to providing two crore jobs per year and ₹15 lakh to every household.
The minister also highlighted price hikes in petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders, besides alleged mishandling of GST and neglect of state interests, including the pending coach factory for Kazipet, cancellation of ITIR for Hyderabad, and failure to grant national status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.
Prabhakar pointed to the delay in fulfilling bifurcation promises to Telangana, ignoring local irrigation disputes, and refusing funds for Musi river rejuvenation. He reminded the BJP of its own 2014 and 2019 manifestos and described repeated letters to the state government as an exercise in “blind hatred” while avoiding accountability at the Centre.
He demanded the BJP explain why critical projects, from industrial corridors to BRGF funding for backward districts, had not materialised, and why essential social pensions for the disabled, elderly and widows were never enhanced despite skyrocketing inflation.
Prabhakar said people were still waiting for railway discounts to be restored, for schools closed down across UP and MP to be reopened, and for promised water allocations on the Krishna river to be resolved.
He alleged that the Modi government’s rule had been marked by communal propaganda, corporate domination, misuse of central agencies and an erosion of federal principles.
Prabhakar concluded that sending repeated letters to a state government formed barely eighteen months ago showed nothing but the BJP’s desperation to distract from what he called its “mega failures”.
