Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday alleged that the BJP and the BRS were spreading false propaganda over the Meenakshi Natarajan setback in the Rajya Sabha election process.
Speaking during an informal interaction with media persons in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy accused the BJP of undermining democratic practices.
He alleged that the party was conducting elections in a manner resembling a single-party system.
Meenakshi Natarajan setback was result of conspiracy: Revanth
The Chief Minister addressed the rejection of AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination from Madhya Pradesh.
The nomination was rejected over the alleged non-disclosure of a pending criminal case in Hyderabad in her election affidavit.
Revanth Reddy suggested that the Returning Officer had committed an error while handling the matter.
He also alleged that the BJP deliberately fielded a third candidate despite lacking sufficient support.
According to him, the move formed part of a larger conspiracy.
Furthermore, he claimed that BJP leaders launched a campaign against Congress leaders to divert attention from the controversy.

The Chief Minister also questioned the repeated denial of permissions for meetings organised by YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
He said authorities had withheld permissions on several occasions.
Revanth Reddy noted that his government had also denied permission for a meeting proposed by Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad due to law and order concerns.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced plans to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in July.
He said the discussions would focus on securing 1,500 acres of land required from Maharashtra for the Tummidihatti project.
In addition, Revanth Reddy alleged that Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was obstructing the expansion of Hyderabad Metro into the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.
He also claimed that supporters of Kishan Reddy had displayed banners criticising BJP MP Etela Rajender in Hyderabad.
