Four of family killed in Medak road accident en route to vote

Hyderabad: Four members of a single family were killed in a tragic road accident in Medak district on Saturday night while travelling to their native village to vote in the local panchayat elections. The victims were riding a motorcycle when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit them near Peddashankarampet on National Highway 161.

Police identified the deceased as Lingamiah, his wife Saayavva, and two children, Sai and Manasa. The family, originally from Magi village in Nizam Sagar mandal, Kamareddy district, had been living in Lingampally, Hyderabad. They were heading to their village on a two-wheeler when the fatal collision occurred.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle that struck them did not stop. Due to the impact, all four were flung onto the road and died on the spot. Locals immediately alerted authorities, but the victims had already succumbed before emergency services arrived.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem as police launched an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to identify the vehicle involved. The accident cast a pall of gloom over Magi village, where the family was expected for the polling day.
