Hyderabad: Police in Rajanna-Sircilla district arrested a man for extortion using the Janashakti name. They also recovered an illegal pistol and ammunition from his possession.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Sircilla DSP Nagendra Chari said the accused, Dubbam Madhu, was taken into custody in Ramalakshmanapalli village of Mustabad mandal. Police seized a country-made pistol, one extra magazine, and eight live rounds during the operation.
The accused was allegedly intimidating locals under the guise of Janashakti activities and demanding money. He was remanded in judicial custody following his arrest.

The DSP added that the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into similar threats and extortion activities in the region. Earlier, police had detained several individuals involved in related offences. They also confiscated a 9 mm pistol.
DSP Chari warned that intimidation and illegal activities in the name of banned organisations would not be tolerated. He stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone participating in such activities.
Sircilla Rural CI Mogili, Tangallapalli SI Upendrachari, and other police personnel were also involved in the arrest operation.
