Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao criticised the Centre over delimitation and welcomed Congress leaders into the party, intensifying the KTR delimitation criticism during a programme in Peerzadiguda, Medchal district.
Several municipal councillors from the Congress joined the BRS in his presence. Addressing the gathering, KTR congratulated local leaders and said the Centre was making contradictory statements on increasing Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.
He alleged that the BJP was using delimitation as a pretext for a new political strategy. He warned that any attempt to weaken southern states would face strong resistance.
KTR delimitation criticism warns against southern injustice
KTR said the BRS would not tolerate efforts to dilute the voice of southern states. He added that the party would fight under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao if injustice occurred.
He pointed out that provisions already existed in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, yet authorities had taken no decision. Therefore, he questioned the delay in implementing those provisions.
Highlighting past measures, KTR said the BRS government had provided 50% reservations for women in local market committees. He added that the Assembly had also passed a resolution supporting women’s reservation.
KTR delimitation criticism targets Congress governance
Turning to state politics, KTR criticised Revanth Reddy and the Congress government. He said the party came to power by making tall promises that remained unfulfilled.
He claimed that voters in Medchal Malkajgiri district did not trust Congress and denied it any seats. However, he said some rural voters believed those promises and later felt cheated.
He accused the government of failing to deliver financial assistance schemes promised to women. He questioned the delay in implementing assurances such as monthly payments and distribution of scooters.
KTR delimitation criticism recalls welfare schemes
KTR contrasted the current government’s performance with that of the previous BRS regime. He said welfare schemes introduced under KCR supported mothers and newborns with financial assistance.
He alleged that several such programmes had been discontinued after the change in government. Moreover, he said two and a half years had passed without fulfilling key promises.
Reiterating his stand, KTR said the KTR delimitation criticism would continue until clarity emerged. He urged the Centre to avoid actions that could harm regional balance and representation.
