Alleti slams CM Revanth over claims on women’s quota and delimitation

Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party Leader Alleti Maheswar Reddy criticised Revanth Reddy, accusing him of misleading the public on women’s reservation and delimitation, intensifying the Alleti Revanth criticism on Wednesday.

According to him, the Chief Minister created confusion about constitutional provisions and wrongly claimed that the Congress alone framed the Constitution. He termed this remark an insult to B. R. Ambedkar.

Referring to the Preamble, Alleti Maheswar Reddy said the Constitution clearly states that the people of India adopted it. Therefore, he argued that attributing it to a single party was inaccurate.

Alleti Revanth criticism targets delimitation claims

Turning to the issue of delimitation, the BJP leader said Revanth Reddy lacked clarity on the process. He explained that delimitation is a constitutional exercise conducted periodically based on census data under Articles 82 and 170.

Furthermore, he noted that the President appoints a Delimitation Commission in consultation with the Election Commission. Typically, he said, the panel includes a former Supreme Court judge and the Chief Election Commissioner.

He also rejected the “Hybrid Policy” or “GSDP Model” proposed by the Chief Minister. In his view, the concept lacked constitutional validity and created confusion.

Alleti Revanth criticism questions Congress leadership silence

Meanwhile, Alleti Maheswar Reddy questioned the silence of senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

He also criticised the Chief Minister’s argument that regions contributing more taxes should receive more seats. According to him, such a model would disadvantage backward districts like Adilabad and Mahabubnagar while benefiting areas near Hyderabad.

In addition, he questioned whether the proposal aimed to marginalise poorer communities. He described the narrative as flawed and politically motivated.

Alleti Revanth criticism terms remarks political strategy

Finally, Alleti Maheswar Reddy described the developments as a political strategy aimed at advancing Revanth Reddy’s ambitions. He alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to gain prominence at the national level.

Moreover, he claimed that Revanth Reddy sought to strengthen his position within the Congress and gain favour with the party leadership. He termed the entire episode a “political charade.”
