KTR hails SC verdict on defector MLAs, challenges Congress to uphold Constitution

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling on the disqualification pleas against party-switching MLAs in Telangana, calling it a crucial moment for protecting democratic integrity.

Reacting to the verdict on social media platform ‘X’, KTR thanked the Chief Justice of India for ensuring the country’s democratic structure isn’t undermined by what he described as “malicious methods.” He stated that the BRS fully welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision.

Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, KTR referenced the Congress leader’s ‘Panch Nyay’ promise of stricter anti-defection laws, saying:
“I DARE YOU to stand by your own preachings, Mr Rahul Gandhi. And I hope you and your party don’t use the honourable Speaker’s position to make a mockery of the Indian Constitution, any further.”

He alleged that the ten MLAs in question had “illegitimately” switched loyalties to Congress and were “participating in Congress Party programs every single day.”

KTR thanked the BRS legal teams and party workers for their support throughout the legal battle and concluded with a call to action: “As I interpret it, we have three months to work towards the bypolls in 10 constituencies. Let’s get to work, guys!”

He ended his post with: “Satyameva Jayathe.”
