Komatireddy says KCR has no right to call himself Father of Telangana

Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Wednesday said Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K. Chandrashekar Rao has no moral right to call himself the “Father of Telangana”. He asserted that Telangana statehood was the result of sacrifices made by over 1,100 martyrs.

Martyrs credited as true builders of Telangana

Campaigning in Moodu Chinthalapally and Aliabad in the Medchal constituency, Komatireddy recalled the contributions of individuals like Srikanthachari of Nalgonda, who died by self-immolation, and constable Kishthaiah, who took his own life during the agitation. “These are the people who truly built Telangana,” he said. “Claiming sole credit ignores their ultimate sacrifice and insults history.”

He described the movement as a people’s struggle, cutting across caste and religion. Komatireddy emphasised that the Telangana cause was never the work of one individual.

Sonia Gandhi lauded for decisive role in statehood

The Minister credited Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for the decision to grant Telangana statehood. He said she was moved by the sacrifice of Telangana’s youth and acted in their interest.

He also accused KCR and his family of enriching themselves during their rule. “They adopted Moodu Chinthalapally but couldn’t even build three houses. Yet, he claims the title ‘Father of Telangana’,” Komatireddy said. “Is that title earned through service or by looting the state?”

Congress appeals for mandate in Medchal

Calling on voters to elect Congress councillors in the municipal polls, Komatireddy said the area’s development depends on support for the people’s government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He assured residents that he would remain accessible and work with the Chief Minister and local leaders to address grievances. “Congress councillors will serve as a bridge between citizens and the government to ensure real development,” he said.

He criticised the BRS for what he termed misrule and urged people to reject it. “Support Congress for transparent governance and inclusive progress,” he concluded.
