Kishan Reddy pays tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 101st birth anniversary

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday paid tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary. He did so by garlanding his portrait at the BJP Telangana State office.

Speaking to the media, Kishan Reddy described Vajpayee as a towering statesman, intellectual, poet, and visionary administrator. He said Vajpayee carved a unique place in Indian politics. He recalled that Vajpayee became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the United Nations in Hindi. Furthermore, he upheld democratic values by resigning after losing power by a single vote.

The Union Minister said Vajpayee transformed India into a nuclear power despite intense international pressure. He said Vajpayee also launched landmark infrastructure initiatives such as the Golden Quadrilateral project and expanded rural road connectivity. This was achieved through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Kishan Reddy said Vajpayee strengthened the education sector through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Additionally, he supported housing for economically weaker sections through the Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY). He added that Vajpayee’s leadership during the Kargil conflict played a decisive role in safeguarding national security.

Recalling Vajpayee’s literary contributions, he said the former Prime Minister’s poetry continued to inspire generations. He noted that Vajpayee dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation. As a result, he remained a lasting inspiration for the youth.

BJP State general secretaries Dr. N. Gautham Rao and Vemula Ashok, State secretary Baddam Maipal Reddy, senior leader Bandaru Vijayalakshmi, and other party leaders attended the programme.
