Hyderabad: The Khairatabad housing lucky draw sparked a protocol row on Saturday after MLA Danam Nagender objected to officials starting the beneficiary selection before his arrival.
Officials held the draw for Gruhalakshmi beneficiaries in the Khairatabad Assembly constituency at Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan in Banjara Hills.
Nagender had scheduled the programme in his itinerary and planned to participate in the selection process. However, officials started the lucky draw before the MLA reached the venue.
The MLA questioned officials about their decision to begin the process without waiting for him. He expressed strong displeasure over what he described as a violation of protocol.
Nagender warned officials that the government would take action against those who violated protocol. He then left the programme midway after expressing his dissatisfaction.
The incident occurred as the Telangana government continued its wider housing beneficiary selection exercise in the Hyderabad CURE region.
Housing allotment process continues across CURE region

In Khairatabad, however, the timing of the draw led to the dispute. Nagender questioned the officials after they proceeded before his arrival.
He later left the venue without participating further in the programme. The incident added a political and protocol dispute to the ongoing housing allotment exercise.
Officials are continuing the beneficiary selection process according to the scheduled programme in the CURE region.
