Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha is reportedly preparing to launch a new Telangana party. She has been holding multiple strategy sessions with poll consultant Prashant Kishor in recent weeks.
According to political sources, Kishor—founder of the Jan Suraj Party—met Kavitha at least twice in Hyderabad, including during the Sankranthi festival, for detailed discussions. The talks reportedly focused on grassroots outreach and public-driven policy formulation. They also discussed building a distinct political platform rooted in Telangana identity.
Party groundwork underway through 50 policy committees
Kavitha has already constituted around 50 committees to study socio-economic issues and draft a policy blueprint. She is also leading the ‘Janam Bata’ (People’s Path) initiative. In this role, she is touring districts and raising concerns about the Congress government’s governance track record.
The former MP and BRS MLC is expected to position the proposed outfit as a people-centric alternative to both Congress and BJP. Sources suggest that Prashant Kishor may serve in a key advisory role. This would be similar to his past work with regional leaders like Mamata Banerjee and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Kishor, who recently criticised Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy during his Bihar campaign, has a history of strategic partnerships in southern politics. His I-PAC team currently supports TMC in West Bengal and actor Vijay’s TVK in Tamil Nadu.
Kavitha, daughter of former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao, previously served as MP from Nizamabad and as an MLC before resigning from BRS. With political signals intensifying, her next move is seen as a potential disruptor in Telangana’s shifting political landscape.
