Kavitha questions Congress’ sincerity on 42% BC quota

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti chief and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday accused the Congress government of not being sincere about the 42% reservation for backward classes (BCs). She questioned the delay in holding local body elections despite the passage of the BC Bill.

At a press conference, Kavitha clarified she has no link with BRS. However, she urged the party to take the BC quota issue seriously. She also criticized BJP MP Eatala Rajender for misleading the courts with his remarks on the elections and demanded an apology to the BC community.

Kavitha highlighted the wide reach of Jagruti’s Bathukamma celebrations, saying they extended “from Chintamadaka to London.” She credited former CM KCR for promoting Telangana’s cultural identity.

She slammed the Revanth Reddy government for changing the design of the Telangana Thalli statue. Kavitha said the current reservation allocations for local polls were unclear and confusing. She urged the government to release caste census data to bring clarity and fairness to the process.
