Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded a 75% ST quota in constable recruitment for Telangana’s agency areas. She alleged that the 2026 recruitment notification omitted the reservation. As a result, tribal candidates could lose access to government jobs.
In a post on X, Kavitha cited GO 109 issued by the undivided Andhra Pradesh government in 1988. She also referred to Gazette Notification 49 issued in 2018 after Telangana’s formation. According to her, these provisions required 75% reservation for ST candidates in agency-area constable posts.
However, Kavitha alleged that the Police Recruitment Board had not implemented the quota in its 2026 notification. She warned that the omission could deprive Adivasi and tribal youth of employment opportunities.
75% ST quota demand covers more than 400 constable posts
Kavitha said constable recruitment notifications issued in 2015, 2018 and 2022 had implemented the 75% reservation for tribal candidates in agency areas. Therefore, she argued that dropping the provision from the 2026 notification would undermine ST communities’ rights.
She warned that tribal youth from 10 districts could potentially lose more than 400 constable posts. The districts include Asifabad, Nagarkurnool, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu and Jayashankar Bhupalpally. The list also covers Adilabad, Mancherial, Warangal, Khammam and Mahabubabad.
Kavitha urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene immediately. She noted that he also handles the Home portfolio. She sought justice for tribal candidates affected by the recruitment notification.
Furthermore, she asked the government to amend the 2026 notification. She demanded implementation of the 75% ST quota in agency-area constable recruitment to protect eligible tribal candidates’ reservation rights.
