Kamareddy police install helmet-wearing Ganesha idol to promote road safety
Hyderabad: Kamareddy district police turned a traffic booth at the old bus stand into a Ganesh pandal and installed a helmet-wearing Ganesha idol to promote road safety.
District Superintendent of Police M. Rajesh Chandra visited the pandal on Sunday and performed puja. He extended Ganesh Chaturthi greetings and wished for Lord Ganesha’s blessings to remain with the people.
The SP urged people to celebrate the festival with devotion while strictly following road safety rules. He said a helmet was not merely a traffic regulation requirement but a protective shield that could save lives during accidents.
Rajesh Chandra urged devotees to wear helmets while travelling to and from Ganesh pandals. He said people should return home safely after having darshan and should remain safe enough to visit the deity again the following year.
Helmet-wearing Ganesha carries road safety message
The police used the helmet-wearing Ganesha idol to spread the message, “Wear a helmet, save lives.” The initiative linked the festive atmosphere with the importance of personal safety on roads.
The SP said large numbers of people took to the roads during festivals. He urged motorists to control their speed and avoid driving after consuming alcohol to prevent accidents.
He said traffic rules were not intended merely to impose fines. Their primary purpose was to protect people’s lives, he said.
Additional SP Narasimha Reddy, DSP Madhusudan, town SHO Narahari and Traffic RSI Chandrasekhar were among those who attended the programme.
