HYDRAA lake restoration draws praise from Global Summit delegates

Hyderabad: Delegates from India and abroad attending the Global Summit 2025 at Future City expressed keen interest in HYDRAA’s environmental initiatives, particularly its lake restoration and flood mitigation efforts. Several of them met Hyderabad Commissioner A.V. Ranganath IPS and praised the civic body’s role in reviving urban water bodies.

Environmentalists commended HYDRAA’s contribution to biodiversity conservation and sustainable urban planning. They noted that in many cities, lakes have turned into polluted drains, but HYDRAA’s model of restoring and greening these areas had created livable surroundings and improved flood resilience. They emphasized the importance of protecting the canals linked to lakes, noting that such measures significantly reduce urban flood risks.

Renowned water conservationist Rajendra Singh, known as the “Waterman of India,” visited the restored Bamruknuddoula and Batukamma Kunta lakes in the old city and Amberpet respectively. He appreciated the efforts to recover encroached lakes, stating that the revival of Batukamma Kunta once fully encroached within just four months was a notable achievement.

Delegates also visited various lakes and expressed admiration for their transformation. Many met with Commissioner Ranganath to discuss future collaborations. Ranganath, in turn, visited several stalls at the summit, focusing on technological tools that can support HYDRAA’s expanding environmental infrastructure.
