Hyderabad Police warn public against Census verification scam

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police warned citizens about a Census verification scam that cyber fraudsters are using to steal personal and financial information.

Police said fraudsters are sending fake messages and links in the name of Census verification.

They warned that scammers use these messages to collect sensitive information from unsuspecting people.

Citizens should avoid clicking on unverified links.

Police also advised people not to share confidential information with unknown individuals or websites.

Census verification scam targets personal information

Police urged the public not to disclose Aadhaar details, OTPs, PINs, bank account information or passwords.

Officials said authorised Census agencies do not ask for OTPs, PINs, bank details or financial credentials.

They do not seek such information through phone calls, messages or online links.

Police advised citizens to verify any communication related to Census activities before responding.

They also urged people to stay alert and report suspicious messages or links immediately.

Citizens can call the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 for assistance.

They can also file complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Hyderabad Police said public awareness and quick reporting help prevent cyber fraud and protect personal information.
