Hyderabad: Minister for Tourism and Culture Jupally Krishna Rao said the government would develop Hyderabad into a Hyderabad global tourism hub by upgrading heritage sites and infrastructure under a new tourism policy.
During an inspection on Wednesday, he visited Chowmahalla Palace and the Charminar precinct. Along with him, MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali, Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Gautami and Director of Archaeology Arjuna Rao reviewed the sites.
According to the Minister, the government aims to transform iconic heritage structures into world-class destinations. At the same time, officials are preparing special master plans to position the city on the global tourism map.
Hyderabad global tourism hub plan focuses on heritage restoration
Jupally Krishna Rao said the Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority sanctioned ₹3.64 crore for restoring the historic Machli Kaman. Soon, authorities will initiate the tender process to begin work without delay.
He also instructed officials to renovate the Sher-e-Batil Kaman. In addition, he ordered beautification of the fountain near Charminar to enhance the visitor experience. He said these measures would strengthen the Hyderabad global tourism hub initiative.
Emphasising preservation, the Minister said authorities must protect architectural heritage while upgrading tourist facilities. Therefore, the government plans to maintain historical authenticity without compromise.
Hyderabad global tourism hub strategy adopts PPP model
Krishna Rao said the state has streamlined tourism development under the new policy framework. To accelerate growth, the government will adopt a Public-Private Partnership model for infrastructure development.
This approach, he explained, will maximise revenue and create sustainable jobs for local communities. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad global tourism hub plan seeks to balance economic growth with cultural preservation.
Reiterating the vision, the Minister said Hyderabad’s heritage wealth would remain central to the strategy. At the same time, authorities will introduce modern amenities to meet the expectations of domestic and international visitors while preserving historical integrity.
