Hyderabad: The Hutti-Singareni partnership will explore opportunities in gold mining, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu directing Singareni officials to examine a possible joint venture.
Bhatti made the proposal during his second-day visit to Karnataka’s gold mining areas on Friday. He visited the Hutti and UT gold mines in Raichur district.
The Deputy Chief Minister inspected operations covering gold ore extraction, processing and refining. He said both public sector undertakings could combine their technical expertise to increase domestic gold production.
Hutti Gold Mines, a Karnataka government undertaking, has extensive experience in gold exploration, mining, processing and refining. Singareni has technical capabilities in coal and other mineral exploration and mining.
Therefore, Bhatti asked Singareni officials to prepare an action plan for possible cooperation. The plan will cover gold exploration, mining, extraction, processing and refining.
It will also examine modern technologies, deployment of technical experts and human-resource training. In addition, officials will identify areas where the two organisations can work together.
Hutti-Singareni partnership to expand gold production
Bhatti said gold played an important role in the country’s economic security. Therefore, he called for scientific exploration and extraction of available domestic gold resources.
He stressed the need to reduce dependence on gold imports. Meanwhile, he said public sector organisations such as Singareni should take the lead in increasing domestic production.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Hutti-Singareni partnership could help increase gold output. It could also support advanced technology adoption and create local employment opportunities.
During the visit, Bhatti inspected the production unit at Hutti Gold Mines. He also examined the ore processing plant and electrowinning facility.
Officials explained the stages involved in processing mined ore and producing refined gold. They informed Bhatti that the Hutti project produces an average of 2 to 4 kilograms of gold per day.
The Deputy Chief Minister later visited the viewpoint at the UT Open Cast Gold Mine. There, he observed the extraction of gold-bearing ore and the areas where mining was taking place.
He asked officials about the depth from which the open-cast mine extracted raw material for gold production. Subsequently, he examined detailed mine maps and sought information about gold exploration technologies.
Officials also facilitated a sapling-planting activity for the Deputy Chief Minister at the site.
Underground gold mining operations inspected
Later, Bhatti inspected gold ore mining operations at the UT underground mine. He sought details about underground ore extraction and transportation.
He also reviewed the use of machinery and worker safety measures. The inspection covered mining operations and related processes.
Bhatti said combining the capabilities of Hutti Gold Mines and Singareni could strengthen cooperation between the two public sector organisations.
Singareni CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti, Director (Planning & Projects) Venkateshwarlu and General Manager Pankaj Kuleshrestha accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
Raichur Zilla Parishad member Amjad and senior Hutti Gold Mines officials Arunava Ghosh, Safiyulla Khan, Vidhatri Upund and Yemnoorappa Gowda also participated.
Retired Colonel Dastagir Saheb Dafedar was among those present during the visit.
Bhatti directed Singareni officials to examine the proposed partnership and prepare the required action plan. The plan will cover exploration, mining, processing, refining, technology adoption and workforce training.
