Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister Harish Rao has slammed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for failing to clear payments to maize farmers. He accused the Congress-led government of betraying farmers despite calling itself farmer-friendly.
Harish demands immediate release of ₹450 crore
While visiting the maize procurement centre in Chinna Kodur mandal on Sunday, Harish Rao said 450 farmers in the area had been waiting 59 days for ₹45 crore in payments. “Is this what they call a farmer’s government?” he asked.
He said Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy had promised payment within two days of procurement but failed to deliver. Because of the delay, many farmers are now selling Yasangi crops in the private market at prices lower than the MSP.
Harish demanded that the state government immediately release ₹450 crore owed to maize farmers across Telangana.
“Vote out Congress if you want your bonus”
Harish Rao urged voters to reject Congress-backed candidates in the upcoming gram panchayat polls. He claimed the ruling party had not only misled farmers but had also failed to waive crop loans.
He also criticised Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao for saying the Rythu Bharosa scheme would apply only from next year. “If farmers want their bonus, they must defeat Congress,” Harish said.
Kaleshwaram comments spark anger
Reacting to CM Revanth Reddy’s controversial remarks on the Kaleshwaram project, Harish Rao expressed deep anger. He condemned Revanth’s statement suggesting that he and former CM KCR deserved to be stoned.
“Let Revanth come to Siddipet and take a dip in Ranganayaka Sagar to see the real status of the project,” Harish challenged.
BRS leaders including Radhakrishna Sharma, Manikya Reddy, and others joined Harish Rao during the visit.
