Harish Rao slams Congress ministers’ attacks on KCR, calls govt a ‘consultancy’

Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former Minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing ministers of panicking after BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s recent press conference. He said the scramble among ministers to respond to KCR was proof of the government’s weakness.

“In my 25 years of political life, I have never seen a Chief Minister address the media at 9:30 PM just to offer explanations. That shows the strength of KCR’s words,” Harish Rao told reporters at Telangana Bhavan.

‘Revanth Reddy afraid of Secretariat, avoiding elections’

The BRS leader accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of being afraid to enter the new Secretariat building due to superstition. “Despite changing doors and gates for Vastu, he is still stuck in the command and control room,” Harish Rao said.

He claimed that with over 4,000 BRS-backed candidates elected as sarpanches, the Congress feared electoral backlash. “That’s why the Chief Minister is avoiding cooperative elections and filling positions through nominations,” he alleged, challenging Revanth Reddy to conduct the elections if he had courage.

Harish Rao also criticised the Chief Minister’s visit to Osmania University, saying it took place under heavy police protection after student leaders were preemptively arrested. “This only proves his cowardice,” he said.

‘Consultancy-driven govt, broker-led decisions’

Harish Rao alleged that the state was being run like a consultancy on advice from brokers in Mumbai. “Earlier, ₹180 crore was paid to a brokerage firm for securing loans. Now they are pushing to split GHMC into three parts to raise ₹30,000 crore on the broker’s advice,” he claimed.

He further accused Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy of sharing ₹7,000 crore under irrigation works. “Bills are cleared only for those willing to pay 20% commission,” he said.

‘Diversion politics, phone-tapping threats, and SIT drama’

The BRS MLA said the Congress government resorts to diversion every time it faces pressure. “They leak stories on phone tapping and Formula E races to shift focus,” he said, adding that he was being targeted with threats of SIT notices once the Assembly session ends.

He warned police officers filing cases under political pressure, saying, “Even if you retire or settle abroad, we will drag you back. You’ll face the same fate as officials in Andhra Pradesh.”

‘DGP distracted, Krishna water mishandled’

Harish Rao criticised DGP Anjani Kumar for focusing more on football match security while ignoring welfare of constables. “Reducing health insurance to ₹1 lakh is appalling. At least ensure TA and DA allowances for constables and home guards,” he said.

He also attacked the government’s handling of Krishna river water. “During Congress rule, water use was just 28.49%, the lowest since Telangana’s formation,” he said. He called Uttam Kumar Reddy’s letter stating 45 TMC is sufficient a “historic mistake,” and demanded a correction to 90 TMC.
