Harish Rao questions liquor brand approvals amid job notification delay

Hyderabad: Former minister T. Harish Rao on Monday criticised the Revanth Reddy government over liquor brand approvals, alleging that it acted swiftly on 121 brands while delaying job notifications.

In a statement, Harish Rao accused the government of failing to address the expectations of unemployed youth. He said lakhs of job aspirants across Telangana had been waiting for government recruitment notifications.

However, he alleged that the government showed greater urgency in issuing notifications concerning 121 liquor brands. Harish Rao questioned why the government prioritised the liquor business while young people waited for employment opportunities.

“You do not issue job notifications that provide security to the future of youth. Why are you in such a hurry over the liquor business?” he asked.

Liquor brand approvals draw Harish Rao’s criticism

Harish Rao questioned whether the government had placed liquor brand approvals and alcohol sales above employment generation. He said graduates and postgraduates continued to wait for jobs across the state.

Meanwhile, he alleged that the government was seeking to increase liquor shops and brands to raise revenue. Harish Rao accused the administration of failing to issue recruitment notifications on time.

He contrasted that delay with what he described as quick action concerning liquor shops and brands. The former minister said the government’s priorities had raised questions among unemployed youth.

He asked why the administration showed urgency over liquor while job aspirants continued to wait for recruitment opportunities.

Harish Rao targets Revanth government over promises

Harish Rao also accused the Revanth Reddy government of failing to implement promises made in its election manifesto. He specifically referred to the promise of two lakh government jobs. The BRS leader also accused the government of failing youth over fee reimbursement.

In addition, he targeted the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam programme. Harish Rao remarked that Rajiv Yuva Vikasam had “withered before it could bloom.” He also used the phrase “Revanth’s revenge, youth’s betrayal” while attacking the government’s record.

The former minister questioned whether the government’s actions reflected the “Praja Palana” promised by Revanth Reddy.

Job notifications versus liquor brand approvals

Harish Rao contrasted the absence of job notifications with the government’s action on liquor brand approvals. “Job notifications nil, liquor notifications full. Is this the Praja Palana you promised, Revanth Reddy?” he asked.

He said young people had completed degrees and postgraduate courses with expectations of securing employment. However, he alleged that the government had not matched those expectations with timely recruitment notifications.

Instead, Harish Rao accused the administration of focusing on expanding liquor sales and collecting revenue. He said the government needed to explain its priorities to unemployed youth.

The BRS leader reiterated that job notifications offered young people long-term economic security. Therefore, he questioned why the government had not shown the same urgency towards recruitment.

Harish Rao maintained that the liquor brand approvals had exposed what he described as misplaced priorities of the Revanth Reddy government. He demanded that the administration focus on its employment commitments and address the concerns of job aspirants across Telangana.
