Harish Rao leads BRS delegation to Delhi ahead of Kaleshwaram verdict

Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao left for New Delhi on Monday to lead a three-member party delegation, aiming to frame a legal strategy ahead of the Telangana High Court’s verdict on the PC Ghose Commission linked to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

The delegation included former MP B Vinod Kumar and Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra. They planned to meet senior advocates from the Supreme Court to examine legal options.

According to party sources, the Harish Rao Delhi visit focused on preparing a response if the High Court delivered an adverse ruling on Wednesday. The move came as the party intensified efforts to challenge the commission headed by Justice PC Ghose.

Sources said the delegation intended to explore avenues to contest the commission’s validity and findings. The leadership had already raised objections in court, questioning both the formation and conclusions of the panel.

The Harish Rao Delhi visit followed earlier legal steps taken by the party. BRS leaders argued that the commission lacked legal standing and sought judicial relief against its proceedings.

Former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier backed the challenge in the High Court. He maintained that the commission’s inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project required closer judicial scrutiny.

The High Court was expected to pronounce its verdict later this week. Meanwhile, the delegation’s consultations in Delhi aimed to ensure readiness for immediate legal action depending on the outcome.
