Hyderabad: Goshamahal Police arrested two men in a grain supply fraud case involving ₹7.48 lakh after they allegedly procured pulses and food grains from a trader without making payment.
Police identified the accused as Akunoori Ashok (60), proprietor of Dhanalakshmi Traders, and his driver, Dharmendra Singh (25). Officers alleged that the duo cheated the complainant by promising to clear the outstanding amount later.
Grain supply fraud uncovered after trader’s complaint
Begum Bazaar trader Roop Chand Solanki lodged a complaint with Goshamahal Police on July 5. He alleged that the accused took delivery of pulses and food grains after assuring him that they would make the payment later.
During the investigation, police collected invoices, cheques and bank return memos as evidence. Officers arrested both accused on Sunday and seized two mobile phones allegedly used in the offence.
Police produced the accused before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Police advised traders and wholesale merchants to verify the credibility of customers before extending credit facilities. They also urged businesses to maintain proper invoices and payment records and avoid relying solely on verbal assurances or post-dated cheques.
