Hyderabad: Telangana Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu on Wednesday attended the inaugural program of Google for Startups hub in Hyderabad. He described it as a new chapter in Telangana’s innovation journey and a crucial step toward building unicorn companies.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said the launch coincided with the government’s two-year anniversary in office. “This is a fresh beginning. It’s an exciting journey, and we are glad Google is coming on board as a mentor for our startups,” he said.
Hyderabad leads as India’s first host of Google startup hub
Sridhar Babu called it the first Google for Startups centre in the country. He said it required significant effort to bring the global tech firm to T-Hub. As a result, local startups will now gain mentorship and access to global resources.
He added that Telangana’s innovation ecosystem is steadily maturing. Hyderabad, he noted, had already built the country’s first private rocket. Therefore, the state must continue embracing emerging technologies.
3-trillion economy target underpins startup vision
The Minister also responded to criticism about the $3 trillion economy target. He said ambitious goals are necessary for progress. “Only with a clear target can we accelerate on the path of progress,” he stated.
He further noted that the Google-backed facility would support world-class startup development. With this, Telangana is better positioned to lead India’s tech-driven entrepreneurship landscape.
