Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a Sub-Inspector attached to Gandhinagar Police Station after allegedly catching him red-handed while accepting a bribe from a complainant in Hyderabad.
According to ACB officials, SI V. Narasimhu allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from a person in connection with a criminal case. The officer reportedly promised to facilitate bail and ensure that the individual would not face future harassment in the matter.
After the demand was allegedly made, the victim approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Acting on the information, Hyderabad City Range-I ACB officers laid a trap and monitored the transaction.
The officials caught the officer while he was allegedly receiving the first instalment of Rs 50,000 on Tuesday evening. The amount was part of the total sum that had allegedly been demanded from the complainant.

Following the operation, ACB officials took the officer into custody and completed the required legal procedures.
Authorities said the accused would be produced before the Nampally court and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is continuing to determine all aspects of the case.
Officials also stated that the identity of the complainant has been kept confidential for security reasons and to protect the integrity of the investigation.
