Four Telangana karate athletes selected for Asian Championship

Hyderabad: Four Telangana karate athletes have been selected to represent India at the 2026 AKF Cadet, Junior & U-21 Asian Karate Championship. The championship will take place in Amman, Jordan, from September 4 to 11.

The selected Telangana karate athletes are Vishal Reddy Amradi, Satya Teja Brahmandani, Nishtha Gangisetti and Shashank Satvik Lanka. They will compete in different weight categories at the Asian-level event.

Vishal Reddy Amradi will compete in the under-61 kg category. Satya Teja Brahmandani will compete in the over-66 kg category.

Nishtha Gangisetti will participate in the under-61 kg category. Shashank Satvik Lanka will compete in the under-52 kg category.

Telangana Sports Karate-Do Association President, TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud felicitated the athletes in Hyderabad on Friday. The felicitation took place at the MLA Quarters.

Telangana karate athletes receive support before Asian event

Mahesh Kumar Goud congratulated the four athletes and wished them success at the championship. He expressed hope that they would win medals and bring recognition to Telangana and India.

He also congratulated their parents and coaches for supporting the athletes. Their encouragement, he said, had played an important role in the athletes’ progress.

The event was attended by Indian Head Coach and KIO joint secretary Keerthan. Karate state general secretary Malyala Ramaswamy also attended the programme.

The 2026 Asian Karate Championship will bring together young athletes from across the region. The Telangana selections will give the four athletes an opportunity to compete at the Asian level.
