Hyderabad: The government marked one year of Fine rice PDS distribution by serving a special meal to legislators in the Assembly dining hall.
Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy oversaw the event, where ministers, MLAs and MLCs attended the meal. Notably, the programme showcased rice supplied to beneficiaries under the public distribution system.
The State launched the Fine rice PDS initiative to provide quality food to poor households. Over the past year, the scheme steadily expanded distribution through ration shops across Telangana.
To mark the occasion, officials prepared dishes using the same rice supplied to beneficiaries. As a result, legislators directly experienced the quality of food distributed under the scheme.
Fine rice PDS completes one year of distribution
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy joined the meal along with ministers and legislators from both ruling and opposition parties. During the event, he interacted with participants over lunch.
Participants appreciated the quality of the meal. In fact, they said the rice matched the standards promised under the scheme.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reviewed the quality of rice supplied to the public. He also assessed whether the programme met its objective of delivering better food to poor families.
Uttam Kumar Reddy monitored the arrangements and supervised the event. Additionally, the department organised the programme to highlight the progress of the scheme after one year.
