Hyderabad: A 23-year-old man was held after the Commissioner’s Task Force and Golconda Police raided a care centre in Golconda. Police identified the accused as Mohd. Adnan, who allegedly impersonated a qualified doctor and practised without valid medical qualifications.
The joint operation took place on September 22, 2026, at Hikma Sehath Care Centre beside MSK Function Hall in Mohalla Gunj. Police said Adnan was running the centre with his mother Saba Khan @ Mohammadi Begum and brother Mohd. Faizan.
According to police, the accused treated patients despite lacking the required medical qualification or a valid licence. They allegedly presented themselves as qualified doctors and collected money from people seeking treatment.
Police seized a large quantity of unlabelled medicines from the centre. The seized material also included prescription books and five books bearing references to a Facebook page identified as “Dr. Adnan official”.
The police said Adnan had promoted the centre and its activities through Facebook and Instagram. Promotional content was also published through SACH NEWS, according to the press note.
The accused was identified as a native of Golconda and had completed Intermediate CEC during 2018-2020. Police said his family had a history of traditional healing, with his maternal grandfather identified as Hakeem A.R. Ortho.
According to the police account, Adnan’s mother had assisted his maternal grandfather before later running the clinic herself. In 2023, Adnan became acquainted with Dr. Munarwa Begum, a BUMS practitioner in Unani Medicine.
Police said Adnan subsequently worked as supportive medical staff at Hikma Health Care. His mother and brother were also allegedly involved in operating the centre and treating patients.
The press note stated that an agreement was made with Dr. Munarwa Begum for a monthly payment of Rs. 13,000. It also stated that she visited the clinic from time to time.
Fake doctor held as police seize medicines
Police alleged that Adnan, his mother and his brother presented themselves as ancestral Hakeems while treating patients. The cases they allegedly treated included sexual health problems, breathing difficulty, chest pain and repeated vomiting.
They also allegedly treated patients reporting severe body pain, kidney or flank pain and urinary difficulties. Police said the accused used prescriptions and unlabelled medicines while treating patients.
During the September 22 raid, officers apprehended Adnan and seized the medicines and other material from the premises. Police said Saba Khan @ Mohammadi Begum and Mohd. Faizan remained absconding.
The seized material included 20 one-kilogram packets of Talbina and several bottles containing powders. Other seized items included SR, EGP, MF, KK, WD, B.R, H.P/C.C, V+V, AST, GR, P-Z and H-H products.
Police also seized prescription books bearing the name Hikma Health Care. The case was registered as Crime No. 356/2026 under Sections 318(4), 125 read with 3(5) of the BNS at Golconda Police Station.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspector M. Mahesh of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone. SI G. Vijayanand, along with Golconda Police personnel and Task Force staff, took part in the operation.
