Hyderabad: The SIR hearing process in Hyderabad was reviewed during a field visit by Electoral Roll Observer Shri Ilambarithi, IAS. The visit took place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as officials assessed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.
District Election Officer Hyderabad Shri R. V. Karnan, IAS, and Additional Commissioner (Elections), GHMC, Shri Santhosh Badhavath, IAS, accompanied the Electoral Roll Observer during the inspection. The officials visited the M.S. Maktha Hearing Centre opposite Lok Bhavan.
The centre covers 19 Polling Stations, numbered 104 to 122, under the 60-Khairathabad Assembly Constituency. During the inspection, the officials reviewed notice cases and examined the hearing process underway at the centre.
Ilambarithi interacted with electors who appeared for hearings and examined the supporting documents they submitted. Meanwhile, the officials reviewed the verification of 2002 SIR linkage and the scrutiny of documents presented by electors.
They also examined corrections proposed in electoral roll details and the basis for disposing of individual cases. The review focused on ensuring that officials followed the prescribed procedure while examining each matter.
SIR hearing process to follow ECI guidelines
The officials directed election authorities to examine every case objectively and dispose of matters strictly under Election Commission of India guidelines. They also stressed the need to provide electors with a proper and reasonable opportunity to be heard.
In addition, the officials emphasised accuracy and due procedure throughout the SIR hearing process. They said these steps were necessary to support the preparation of a credible and error-free electoral roll.
The field visit therefore focused on notice cases, document verification, linkage checks and corrections in electoral records. Officials also reviewed the basis used to propose cases for disposal during the hearings.
