Expired cold drink hospitalises 10-year-old boy in Huzurabad

Hyderabad: A 10-year-old boy was admitted to hospital after consuming an expired cold drink purchased from a grocery store in Huzurabad, causing concern in Bornapalli and Ippal Narsingapur villages.

According to family members, Kalluri Priyanka visited Ippal Narsingapur village with her son Sai Chandan. During the visit, she bought a half-litre Maaza bottle from a grocery shop run by Pilli Mallayya near a local school.

However, the boy developed severe stomach pain shortly after consuming the drink. Family members later checked the bottle and found that its expiry date had ended on March 12 this year.

Huzurabad boy falls ill after expired drink

The family alleged that the shopkeeper sold the beverage without checking the expiry date. They blamed the trader’s negligence for the incident.

Meanwhile, the parents shifted the boy to the Huzurabad Government Hospital for treatment. He has remained under treatment there for the past two days.

Doctors said the boy’s condition was stable and there was no danger to his life. The update brought relief to the family members.

Further, Priyanka lodged a complaint at the local police station against grocery shop owner Pilli Mallayya for allegedly selling the expired cold drink.

Local residents demanded strict action against shops selling expired food items and cool drinks. They also urged officials to conduct inspections and prevent such incidents.
