Hyderabad: “Every penny spent in the election campaign must be accounted for,” said Expenditure Observer Sanjeev Kumar Lal while inspecting election expenditure monitoring systems for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll.
Expenditure observer inspects monitoring centres
Lal visited the GHMC’s Model Code of Conduct cell, electronic media monitoring room, 1950 complaint centre, and social media cell. He expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and coordination among officials.
He instructed officers to record all expenses daily. These include rallies, public meetings, roadshows, advertisements, and paid news. Lal stressed the need for transparency and strict adherence to spending limits.

MCC Nodal Officer Narasimha Reddy, MCMC Member Secretary Mamindla Dasharatham, and 24×7 Control Room OSD Anuradha explained how the monitoring systems operate.
Later, Lal met the District Election Officer and reviewed expenditure-tracking methods. He also discussed how officials are enforcing the Model Code of Conduct. Lal reminded them that every rupee must match official records.
