Hyderabad: State Mahila Congress President Errabelli Swarna criticised K. Kavitha, saying she should have addressed alleged irregularities during the previous BRS government instead of targeting the current administration.
Swarna said people would have taken Kavitha seriously if she had questioned decisions taken during the tenure of her father, former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. She alleged that the public was aware of leaders who misused power for personal gain.
The Mahila Congress leader said Kavitha was attempting to invoke Telangana sentiment for political purposes. She added that such claims would not resonate with people who had closely observed political developments in the state.
Swarna also questioned Kavitha’s criticism of the present government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. She said Kavitha had earlier made positive remarks about the government and was now taking a contradictory stand.
Errabelli Swarna Kavitha remarks on the target BRS legacy
Swarna said Kavitha did not have the authority to speak on issues of Telangana self-respect while, according to her, avoiding accountability for past allegations. She added that criticism of corruption charges should not be portrayed as an attack on the state.
The Congress leader maintained that political discourse should focus on governance and accountability rather than emotional appeals. She reiterated that the public would ultimately judge leaders based on their record and actions.
The remarks come amid continued political exchanges between Congress and BRS leaders in Telangana, with both sides trading allegations over governance and past decisions.
