DRI Hyderabad seizes ₹4.15 crore hydroponic ganja at RGIA

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Hyderabad Zonal Unit has busted an international drug trafficking racket by seizing 4.15 kilograms of hydroponic ganja at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). The seized narcotics, valued at ₹4.15 crore in the international market, were recovered from an Indian passenger who arrived from Bangkok.

DRI officials found the contraband hidden in a specially designed compartment inside the passenger’s suitcase. The ganja was packed in multiple sachets, indicating a well-planned smuggling operation. Authorities said the concealment technique pointed to a sophisticated cross-border supply chain.

DRI Hyderabad drug seizure linked to Bangkok route

The DRI intercepted the suspect upon arrival and recovered the concealed ganja. Officials immediately arrested the passenger and booked him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators are now working to identify other individuals involved in sourcing and moving the drug from Thailand to India.

Officials believe the high-grade hydroponic ganja was meant for sale to upscale users in major urban markets. Further arrests are likely as the DRI continues tracking leads tied to this syndicate.
